Hurricane in Costa Rica

Hurricane Otto hit northern Costa Rica last Thursday/Friday, killing at least 9 individuals and causing an estimated 8 million dollars in damages to roadways as of Thursday evening. The president declared three days of mourning starting today.

Our partner university cancelled some courses on Thursday morning, however, as the damage was contained to the north part of the country, courses resumed on Thursday afternoon; even the Thanksgiving dinner went off as planned. All of our students are safe and well, but our thoughts and prayers are wth the people of the northern communities of Costa Rica as they begin to rebuild.
