LATEST UPDATE:
November 4, 2024
In the early morning hours of 11/4/24 CIS Abroad staff in Spain alerted us to the ongoing situation in Barcelona with heavy rain and the potential for flooding. Unfortunately, the city of Barcelona and the surrounding area was hit very hard throughout the night. Flooding has caused widespread damage in Barcelona and down the coast.
All universities and most of the city of Barcelona closed on 11/4/2024 as waters rose throughout the morning and into the early afternoon (Barcelona time). At roughly 1:30pm (local time) the rain stopped and people who had been sheltering in place were allowed to return home.
CIS Abroad has confirmed the safety of all students and staff, and all students have been able to return to their student residence.
Our hearts go out to all of those who have been affected by this natural disaster, and by the flooding that impacted southern Spain last week.
